Experienced Coaches Dedicated to Youth Baseball
Our coaching staff brings years of experience to the Berks County Bulls. From former college players to dedicated youth baseball experts, our team is passionate about helping young athletes reach their full potential.
Each coach is committed to developing both the technical and mental aspects of the game, ensuring players grow on and off the diamond.
Mike Spidale
Owner/President of Berks County Bulls
Coach Spidale grew up in the Chicago-land area where he was a 2-time All State High School Baseball Selection in Illinois. He was drafted in 2000 out of Nazareth Academy High School in the 12th round of the Major League Baseball amateur draft by the Chicago White Sox.

In 2002 Coach Spidale was the Kannapolis Intimidators Player of the Year, earned a spot on the South Atlantic League All-Star Team & was named the Best Defensive Outfielder in the White Sox organization by Baseball America.
In 2003 Coach Spidale was a member of the Carolina League Champions, Winston Salem Warthogs team.
Coach Spidale was named the Chicago White Sox Minor League Player of the Year in 2004 while playing for the Birmingham Barons batting .306 with 7 HR’s, 27 2B’s, 7 3B’s, 26 SB’s & leading the Southern League in runs scored with 87.
In 2006 Coach Spidale was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies as a minor league free agent. That season he led the Lakewood Blueclaws to a South Atlantic League Championship, while winning the league batting title with a .346 Avg.
Coach Spidale was a member of the Florida State League Championship Clearwater Threshers team in 2007.
While playing for the Reading Phillies, Coach Spidale made Reading his home. Spidale is a 2-time Reading Phillies Team MVP (2010 & 2011). He was an Eastern League All-Star in 2011. Spidale is the All-Time leading hitter in Reading Phillies history with 571 total hits. In his professional career, Coach Spidale has a .290 Batting Avg. with 1407 hits, 735 runs scored and 301 career stolen bases.
Coach Spidale founded the Berks County Bulls organization in 2014. He has guided the organization to one of the most successful in Pennsylvania. Coach Spidale is an accomplished hitting instructor that has helped produce some of the best hitters in Berks County in the last 10 years, while sending over 50 players to the College Ranks.
Eric Valent
Coach
Coach Valent grew up in La Mirada, California. Eric is the career leader in Home Runs & RBIs at UCLA.
Eric played for the Philadelphia Phillies, New York Mets & the Cincinnati Reds during his playing career.
Coach Valent hit for the cycle while playing for the New York Mets on July 29, 2004, against the Montreal Expos.
Valent is the current National Cross-Checker for the Miami Marlins.
Cody Mish

Joe Harris
Coach
Joe Harris is a graduate of Daniel Boone HS in ‘05. Coach Harris played his college ball at Wilmington University, where he pitched from ‘06-‘09. Joe then pitched in the Atlantic League for 7 seasons. He was a Northern League All-Star in 2013, posting a 10-3 record with a 1.55 ERA while playing for the Fargo-Moorhead Red-Hawks.
Harris finished his playing career pitching for the York Revolution in 2014. This laid the groundwork for his coaching career. Harris went on to coach at his alma mater Wilmington University, and guided them to a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference championship in 2022.
Coach Harris is currently the pitching coach for the York Revolution.
